Free Accommodation - Ultimate Budget Travel Hack

We all dream of the possibility to stay in fabulous destinations while not paying a cent for that roof over our heads, am I right?! Well I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to be a travel or instagram influencer to make this a reality for yourself.

One of the best things I have come across while traveling around Europe, is house/pet sitting. Yes, it’s a real thing, kind of like the movie ‘‘The Holiday’’ where you stay at someone else’s home while they are away. Maybe not quite the luxury resort idea you have in mind, but hey, you can’t beat free accommodation!

Now this may not be for everyone. There’s a big catch. You are responsible for taking care of their home and their pets. But since we are all ‘responsible’ adults here in need of more adventure in our lives, this can be the perfect fit for you. I personally am a big animal lover and since I recently lost my sweet German Shepherd, I can’t think of anything better than spending time cuddling pets while finding myself in places I would have never thought of visiting before.

As I write this, I am sitting in the small town of Nyon, Switzerland where I am house sitting for a week. I have the whole apartment to myself so I can get lots of work done, but I can also go explore the rest of this beautiful country with day trips.

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite budget travel hacks and that is free accommodation anywhere! If you love animals and are a responsible traveler, join a site like the one linked below, and get access to a free place to anywhere!

You can join these sites as an individual or a couple and it definitely helps you get picked if you have previous experience pet sitting or some great references. As I said, this may not be for everyone as you are living in someone’s home and your reputation as a sitter will depend on the care and respect you show that agreement.
